THE WORK
In this award-winning short film, Agent Jim is tasked with interrogating a suspect known as the "Spaghetti Striker", AKA Luigi who has been targeting FBI agents in spaghetti related attacks. Agent Jim's attempts at intimidation are successful, and Luigi finally loses his cool. Luigi reveals his ability to control spaghetti using super-Italian powers. At the drop of a hat, Luigi incapacitates Agent Jim leaving him unconscious and covered in spaghetti. Who knows what Luigi's next move will be?
As an animator for Cat in a Dog's World, I help produce bold, character-driven animations that blend whimsical storytelling with a modern crypto-inspired aesthetic. The animations feature expressive feline and canine characters brought to life through vibrant motion, fluid transitions, and playful visual humor. Each piece is crafted to capture the spirit of the project's community — energetic, mischievous, and full of personality, while maintaining a polished, studio-quality look.
Many great animations start with the rig. This Agent Jim character rig was built from the ground up in Toon Boom Harmony, designed to be expressive, efficient, and production-ready. The peg hierarchy works carefully in conjunction with deformers to ensure natural motion across every joint. The limbs use a combination of drawing swaps and envelope deformers to support both snappy poses and smooth follow-through. The torso features layered deformation zones for secondary motion which support Jim's suit design.
The result is a rig that performs, not just moves. It stays out of the animator's way and lets the character come to life.
